BurrellesLuce’s Johna Burke to Detail Effective Uses of Social Media and Measurement At Public Relations, Publishing, Travel and Tourism Meetings in May

LIVINGSTON, NJ (May 4, 2010) Johna Burke, the top marketing executive at BurrellesLuce, will devote much of May to offering advice on public relations measurement and social media to a variety of industry audiences. Burke, senior vice president-marketing for BurrellesLuce, will take part in five May programs that are being run by major players in the PR, news publishing, and travel and tourism fields. 

She will sit on a May 12 panel assembled for the annual conference and marketplace of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA); moderate a webinar organized by PR News on May 13; participate in a roundtable discussion to be held May 23 at the Counselors Academy Conference of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); speak at the NetGain conference of the Society of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) on May 24; and join other experts in a May 26 breakout session at PRSA’s Travel & Tourism Conference.

Here are details of the events in which Burke will be participating during May:

May 12The 2010 NATJA gathering is set for Reno. And in a session titled "Show Me the Money: Clips, Hits and ROI," Burke and her co-panelists will explore the media measurement, message mapping and analytic metrics of PR programs in today’s economy.

May 13—“Leveraging the Next Wave of Social Networks for Your PR” is the theme of this timely PR News webinar. Three longtime public relations professionals will serve as webinar trainers, and Burke will be the session moderator.

May 23—Burke’s topic is “Research, Strategy and Straight Talk on Social Media,” as she joins some 30 PR counselors and thought leaders in Asheville, NC, for the 2010 Counselors Academy Conference. This year’s theme is “Looking Up: Lessons and Conversations to Move Your Business Forward.”  

May 24SIIA’s NetGain event in San Francisco will focus on the convergence of content and technology. In her look at the social media, Burke will compare platforms, strengths, weaknesses, and potential roles in the social networking mix, and will describe how they can be woven together to build a presence and a strong community.

May 26—The 2010 meeting of PRSA’s Travel & Tourism Section is taking place in Aspen, CO, a location reflected in the conference theme: “Elevate, Integrate, Innovate: Reach Your Peak in Travel & Tourism Communications.” Burke’s session, “Social Media Toolbox: Tips, Tricks and Applications to Save Time and Excel” will convene twice that day.

A prominent authority on media measurement and monitoring, Burke also has overseen the expansion of staff members’ engagement with social media via Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, and on the BurrellesLuce blog, Fresh Ideas.  A 20-year public relations and marketing veteran, she joined BurrellesLuce in 2000, after serving as director of public relations and investor relations for U-Haul International. Burke is a member of PRSA and the immediate past chair of the Southern Region of the International Association of Business Communicators.
